There are greener pastures on the other side But I like the way the dead grass Itches my spine And my healthy dash of scoliosis helps me fit the curvature of the earth I can stare at the sun all day long Sit out with bugs on the lawn And one day I’ll have cataracts and the rolly pollys will have my back in the hearse Tightrope walk in steel toed boots Move like you never left the ground Sometimes the world is how it was and Sometimes it’s how it is now I’m inside a fishbowl in an empty house Wearing salted dust like an encrusted blouse maybe I’ll head to the ball Where light is slight and uncomfortable And I’ll dance Tightrope walk in steel toed boots Move like you never left the ground Sometimes the world is how it was and Sometimes it’s how it is now It’s ok to rest your feet to calm your head and in between With Jests or sobs or bloodied palms Whatever you prefer Eventually you’ll come to hope that in your head you’ll find that rope Instead of kicking chairs you’ll climb and move on forth with grace and grime And you’ll get there Tightrope walk in steel toed boots Move like you never left the ground Sometimes the world is how it was and Sometimes it’s how it is now Sometimes it’s how it is now Sometimes it’s how it is now

Sheltered demons Haunt me as I sleep In my flesh and finger tips I hear them when I breathe Nothing is ever done Kitchen sinks and bubblegum Nothing is ever done Hitchhiking with broken thumbs I wish I was a heathen No singed hair or burning trees It's hard to pray for nothing When miracles are all that you see Nothing is ever done Kitchen sinks and bubblegum Nothing is ever done Hitchhiking with broken thumbs Nothing is ever done Kitchen sinks and bubblegum Nothing is ever done Poachers with their rabid guns Nothing is ever done Kitchen sinks and bubblegum Nothing is ever done You cut your heel and now you can't run

Pot is foaming rolling over Burner screams and weeps I am driving down the road Like Europe owns these streets One more time my brain suggests You’ll feel as good as god The stove is soaked engine roars The goods as good as gone The pot is cold the mess is cleaned The burner lays asleep The voice is hoarse dry and cold Hello it vaguely weeps I sit now calm eyes in half The ocean rings the floors The voice it yells the voice it creeps But I’ll just walk ashore

about

This is a little collection of songs finished around the time of my residential mental health treatment. The first and last song were both actually performed for staff and residents while I was there. I'm glad to share these from an experience that I know will make my life beautiful for a long time.
